Robert Mondavi, an industry-leading winemaker who helped lead the California wine industry into international prominence, passed away May 16 at the age of 94. In a career that spanned eight decades, Mondavi became known as a world-renowned producer, marketer and innovator of fine wine. "Robert was a pioneer who acted on his vision and was both passionate and relentless in his pursuit of ever better wines, especially from the Napa Valley," said Rob Sands, Constellation Brands chairman. "Robert's passing leaves a void in the world of wine which can never be filled." Constellation Brands acquired the Robert Mondavi Winery in 2004.
