THIS MONTH I'VE DRIVEN A prototype of the Lotus Evija and the (almost finished) Rimac Nevara so I'm fully up to speed on the new breed of electrified gazillion horsepower hypercar. But what about the mere mortal motorist? Step forward the Peugeot e-2008. Although the rivals are now piling up all around it, the Peugeot is unquestionably the family EV to have if you care at all about how a car drives and feels. Its 50kW battery and single motor are good for 134bhp and 192 torques, so it's not rampant like some EVs. But certainly fast enough. And it got used properly, often on a daily commute of 40 miles or so, which made for a useful case study. We averaged 3.5 miles per kWh overall, which is bang on the 175-mile range that the car usually displayed, and not much less than the 205 that Peugeot claims. That'll probably creep up in the summer.
