Over the coming decade, a custodian's suite of products will continue to be shaped - and in some instances redefined - by the ongoing transformation of investment institutions' own business models. A combination of internal and external pressures means institutional asset managers, having already outsourced core-middle and back-office functions - custody, transfer agency, fund accounting and administration - are now embracing all-encompassing process transformations. There will be a greater reliance on custodians to provide the infrastructure to support the range of products and services required for these ever-evolving business models.
