Prominvestbank Investment Component of Ukraine Economic Growth

The economy of young independent Ukrainian state, which celebrated its 13-year anniversary on August 24, 2004, demonstrates one of the highest paces of development in the world. During the first six months of 2004 GDP of Ukraine has increased by 12.7%, volume of industrial production - by 15.9%. The barter, which decreased from 43% in 1998 to 1%, has been reduced inside the country and the moderate inflation level of 4.4% has been ensured. As a result of macroeconomic stabilisation in Ukraine, Ukrainian international ratings have been raised. The international rating agency Moody's has assigned Ukrainian notes 'B1' rating. The financial basis of Ukraine economic growth is a reliable banking system, which has showed even more significant characteristics of growth than the industry. The banks' credit resources have increased by 18.9% during the first six months of 2004. The volumes of bank lending have increased by 19.5%. Even more dynamic growth showed Prominvestbank that celebrated its 12-year anniversary as joint-stock commercial bank on 26th of August. The Bank, taking into account its predecessors, has 82-year glorious banking history and is of the same age as many of world-known financial and banking institutions. During six months of 2004 credit resources of the Bank have been increased by 27.6%; including the funds of corporate customers that have been increased by 40.7%. Pace of growth of loans has amounted to 28.5%, and this enabled the Bank to enlarge significantly its share in the banking market of Ukraine.
