Post-election France has everything to play for

If, judging from the high turnout in the French elections, the political process invigorated discussion in the cafes on Boulevard Haussmann in Paris, it had the opposite effect on parts of the French market. There has been a marked slowdown in mergers and acquisitions (M & A) activity in the first half of the year in industries where there is state involvement, such as defence and energy; and in the equity markets, corporates and investors seem to have been playing 'wait and see'.
