Core banking is mission-critical in the modern financial services industry, so it is not surprising that banks are willing to commit large portions of their IT budgets on simply maintaining the systems that underpin business processes. This substantial investment is often made at the expense of innovation and growth, mostly because legacy-based IT environments are notoriously expensive to maintain and adapt-as much as 80% of IT budgets goes towards maintenance.
