Global milestone for ICBC

Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) is the latest addition to the Financial Stability Board's list of global systemi-cally important banks (G-SIBs), the first time for a Chinese bank to be included.ICBC was the only new addition to the list, which was updated in November using data from the end of 2012, bringing the number of G-SIBs to 29.Although being included in the list means ICBC will need capital buffers on top of those required under Basel III requirements, the bank is already subject to stricter capital rules imposed by the Chinese regulator.
