DenizBank: a 17-year success story

DenizBank commenced operations in 1997 with just a banking license. The bank's establishment is a story of entrepreneurship and innovation, a story of an organisation that began 17 years ago with zero branches and no staff members, which today has grown to serve 8 million clients in 81 provinces of Turkey, with a network that extends to 745 branches operated by 15,000 staff members. Since the very first day of its establishment, the bank has focused on sustainable and efficient growth guided by a corporate governance philosophy that adheres to transparency, accountability, responsibility and fairness principles. DenizBank is ranked as Turkey's fifth largest private bank in terms of consolidated total assets, having risen from the 81st rank within 17 years. This short history of the bank has already witnessed one IPO and two changes in share holding structure: the bank was sold to a new shareholder during both transactions, with the highest price-to-book multiple valuations ever in Turkey. Since September 2012, DenizBank has been operating under Sberbank, the largest bank in Russia and one of the world's most prominent finance giants.
