BCP moves deeper into Africa

Moroccan lender Banque Cen trale Populaire (BCP) has acquired majority stakes in a number of banks across francophone Africa as part of an agreement to buy the regional business of French cooperative lender BPCE. The deals, which were completed in October, include moves into Madagascar, Cameroon and the Republic of the Congo and come off the back of BCP's acquisition of Banque des Mascareignes, in Mauritius, from BPCE in 2018.
