HSBC removes CEO Flint after less than 18 months

HSBC has removed chief executive John Flint and plans thousands of further senior job cuts this year, as it braces for what it describes as an "increasingly complex and challenging global environment". Mr Flint, appointed as CEO in February 2018, was ousted on August 5, with the board reported to have grown increasingly frustrated over the slow pace of change at the bank. Noel Quinn, global head of the bank's commercial banking unit, has been appointed as interim CEO ahead of the appointment of a permanent replacement.
