The cruise ship 'Carnival Splendor', which lost power after experiencing an engine room fire, was towed to the port of San Diego arriving on November 11. As the ship came closer to coastal areas, guests began to receive intermittent cellular service. Additionally, the ship's phone system started working on a limited basis and guests were able to make complimentary calls home.
