RDM's Iatest catamaran ferry - from Tasmania to Tanzania

Australian builder Richardson Devine Marine (RDM), based in Hobart, Tasmania, has launched 'Kilimanjaro III', an aluminium-hulled catamaran passenger ferry that will be owned and operated by Azam Marine of Tanzania providing services between Dar Es Salaam and Zanzibar. Designed by Sydney-based Incat Crowther, 'Kilimanjaro III' is a direct evolution from the previous two vessels, 'Kilimanjaro I' and 'Kilimanjaro II', delivered in July 2009 and August 2010 respectively. Following their success, Azam Marine requested that RDM and Incat Crowther develop a larger, faster and more versatile vessel. RDM's director Toby Richardson made several trips to Tanzania to assess the owner's needs, the passenger profile and local weather and sea conditions.
