Use media to combat piracy, says Anglo-Eastern CEO

The release of Paul and Rachel Chandler from their 12-month captivity in Somalia after being captured by Somali pirates was welcome news, said Anglo-Eastern CEO, Peter Cremers in late December. However, the enthusiastic media response to their release took attention away from the many hundreds of other piracy related cases. Cremers questioned the industry's lack of ability to use the media to provoke the same type of response among the general public and politicians to do more for the plight of abducted seafarers.
