'KatExpress 2' 112 metre Incat wave-piercer for Denmark

Hot on the heels of the groundbreaking LNG-fuelled ferry 'Lopez Mena', Incat Tasmania has also completed construction of their fourth 112 metre wave-piercing catamaran. Named 'KatExpress 2', the passenger-vehicle ferry has been delivered to Danish ferry operator Mols Linien to provide a high-speed car ferry link between the Danish ports of Aarhus and Odden. Powered by four 9,000kW MAN 28/33D diesels, each linked to a Waertsilae LJX 1500SR water jet via a ZF NR2H 60000 gearbox, the vessel has a cruising speed of 39 knots. A Marine Dynamics active ride control system is fitted to further enhance ride comfort.
