If you fly from tall grass or rougher field, Irnrecommend an easy hand launch. Powerrnup the plane and have a helper give it arnlight toss. The Super Decathlon will prettyrnmuch fly right out of hand. From a smoothrnsurface, takeoffs are just as simple: aimrnthe model into the breeze (if there is any)rnand add about 1/2 throttle. Lift-off isrnaccomplished effortlessly with a veryrnshort roll. Once in the air, the airplane isrnvery tame and easy to trim out. Most ofrnmy flights required just over a Vi power setting and full power was only used for somernfrolicking and fun. To land the Super Decathlon, manage a small amount of power andrnget a feel for the glide ratio. It settles down nicely unless you pull too much elevatorrnduring touchdown, in which case it may want to hop once or twice. Taxiing back tornthe pits was a slight challenge, and I found it easiest to use small blips of power withrnslight bumps of rudder input to bring it back to me.
