摘要

Preventative care, such as cancer screening, is a key component of one's overall wellness. It is widely known that racial disparities exist in access to and receipt of health care services (1). Racial and ethnic minorities receive a lower quality of health care even when confounding factors such as income and access to care are accounted for (1). Specifically, it is interesting to note that research published by the National Cancer Institute shows that for all cancers combined, the death rate is 25% higher for African Americans/Blacks than for Whites (2). Unfortunately, participation by underserved groups in cancer centers has been historically low (2).
