In a nation known for its rainy days and often cloudy summers, it seems odd that Britain is internationally renowned for its expertise in solar-powered high-altitude pseudo-satellites (HAPS).These unmanned air vehicles (UAV)-many still in development-have the potential to transform military intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions, as well as to bring wireless communications to the remotest locations while flying in the stratosphere, well above the weather.
