SECURITY BY DESIGN: EARLY IN THE DESIGN

If we are committed to addressing aviation's 'problem child' for the next generation of airports, it is imperative security is engaged early in the design process and no longer accepted as a retrospective fit out service. This is an open call to aviation security practitioners to become involved in the upfront design of new airports and the re-design/expansion of existing airports. They should set the operator requirements by undertaking risk assessments and working with the architects and the engineers to find complimentary design solutions, while also monitoring designs to ensure risks are neither overlooked nor inadvertently introduced into a project.
