On departure, [a Beech King Air] clipped a tree with its left wing. [The pilot] declared an emergency and landed without incident." No one was hurt and aircraft damage was "minor." Winds were calm and visibility was 1/4 mile in fog with an indefinite ceiling. The King Air pilot was solo, taking off from a 4000-foot runway at about 700 feet MSL-the [likely] lightly-loaded airplane should have had no trouble at all clearing obstacles. The airplane may have been heavy with cargo (but not likely), or the pilot may have attempted an intersection takeoff. Temperatures were below freezing, so the twin turboprop may have been affected by frost or ice.
