The flight director provides a lot of guidance in one place, but it easily can lead you astray if you aren't careful, too. There are three flight director "gotchas" you need to guard against, by constantly cross-checking FD guidance against other indications: I've found pilots tend to focus on the flight director, especially when they are new to FD operations or they fly infrequently. Flying the flight director does not replace your need to look outside the airplane in VMC, or to continue your full instrument scan when flying in the clouds.
