At some point, I think we have all overfilled a car or airplane resulting in some gas overflowing the filler and onto the ground. If the ground is wet, don't start the aircraft and strongly consider moving it upwind while avoiding any activity that could generate a spark. Avgas is sufficiently volatile that even a gallon or two on the ground will vaporize rather quickly. While it is doing so, you have an explosive hazard. If it is a bigger spill that won't evaporate and other aircraft are operating nearby, call the FBO or airport management or area fire department. Don't treat spilled gas lightly. If there's an emergency, consider these checklists.
