A delivery ceremony was held on April 19 for the first production Eurocopter Tiger in the HAD attack configuration. The helicopter will be operated by the French Army Air Corps (ALAT). The handover followed DGA qualification (France's armament procurement agency) of the Tiger HAD version on April 10 and marked commencement of deliveries for Eurocopter's latest variant of the type. France already uses the HAP support and protection version. The HAD is a more potent variant. To date, France has ordered 40 Tiger combat helicopters in HAD configuration. Another 24 helicopters have been ordered by the Spanish Government. This order includes six Tiger HAPs retrofitted to HAD configuration.
