UK Air Traffic Statistics 2013

UK air traffic totals rose slightly in 2013 compared to the previous year, despite European strike action and bad weather, with their associated delays and flight cancellations. UK air traffic services provider NATS handled 2,153,995 flights, a rise of 0.4%, but figures are still well below peak numbers recorded in 2007, when air traffic was almost 13% higher than 2013. The best performing segment was 'Non-Transatlantic Overflights' with an increase of 2.5%. In contrast, the worst performer was 'Domestic', which registered a 2.5% decline. Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) traffic rose significantly in Scotland, with Aberdeen seeing growth of 5.7% and Glasgow following suit with a rise of 3.2%.
