Deliveries of new general aviation aircraft grew by 4.3% in 2014 compared with the previous year according to the annual Delivery Report, released on February 12 by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA). In total, the industry handed over 2,454 fixed-wing aircraft - up by 101 over 2013. However, helicopter deliveries, at 971 units, were down by 26% year-on-year. Long-range business jets were in demand with Gulfstream delivering 117 of its large cabin G450, G550 and G650 models and Bombardier 80 Global 5000s and 6000s. Boeing's ten units included four 787 Dreamliners for corporate clients and Airbus dispatched four ACJ320s and an ACJ319. The first examples of the Embraer Legacy 500 and Eclipse 550 were delivered last year. Faring less well was the agricultural market with the main manufacturers, Air Tractor and Thrush, seeing a 19% drop to 182 aircraft. The figures for utility turboprops also decreased, although sales of business turboprops, particularly the King Air, TBM 900 and Pilatus PC-12, remained strong. Thanks to expansion in demand for training aircraft, Cessna and Piper shipped 200 Cessna 172s and Archers - and, among the small manufacturers, Tecnam delivered 190 aircraft and Mooney handed over the first of its new production Acclaims.
