On a bustling industrial estate, a short drive from Southampton Airport on the UK's south coast, CTC Aviation is busy training its latest intake of prospective pilots. One of the UK's leading commercial pilot training companies, it will enrol more than 400 students this year across a variety of programmes. Originally formed as Chief Training Captain Associates, it began its first cadet programme in 1993 and started a relationship with easyJet in 1995. As well as Southampton, it has Crew Training Centres in Coventry, London Gatwick, Bournemouth, Hamilton (New Zealand) and Phoenix, Arizona. Now part of the L-3 family, the company employs around 370 people, more than 150 of whom are instructors, and has 60 aircraft, ten fixed-base simulators and six full-flight simulators.
