Confidence in the global sugar industry continues, as this snapshot on investment acitivity over the past year suggests. The past five years of global sugar surplus which has pushed the prices down has not impacted investment decisions. This is largely because 70% of the global sugar market is domestic - shielded from the vagaries of volatility in sugar prices. Analysts suggests that 2015/16 and 2016/17 sugar outputs will be significantly lower than demand, boosting prices and generating useful returns for those whose new or modernised factories commence production.
