AIRASIA JAPAN looked set to launch its first commercial services on October 29 from its Chubu Centrair International Airport base (see Airliner World, September 2017). Two years after receiving its air operator certificate, the carrier will operate twice daily ser- vices to Sapporo. This is the Malaysian budget carrier's second attempt to crack the Japanese market after its joint venture with ANA Holdings broke down in October 2013. The nucleus of that first airline was used by ANA to form low-cost Vanilla Air.
