Sturmovik Among Pima Restoration Projects

Pima Air & Space Museum staff are working on several restoration projects involving historic aircraft from all over the world. Most noteworthy among these is Ilyushin Ⅱ-2 Sturmovik 5612, which is nearing completion. It served with the 7th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment of the Red Banner Baltic Fleet and was flown in the area around Leningrad during 1943 and 1944 before being shot down. Recovered from a Russian lake in 1992, it arrived at Pima in 2002.
