For anyone who works in events, I feel your pain. It's been a tough year. We've adapted, we've mastered Zoom and Teams and Hopin, but screen fatigue is real and we can't go on like this forever. There's got to be a better way. Enter the rise of the VR event. Over the summer we saw Glastonbury Festival's Shangri-La move into the Metaverse, attracting over four million viewers from over 100 countries to virtually attend the festival in VR. Burning Man went 'Multiversal' with eight universes, a virtual temple, and a globally distributed Man Burn. Now this same model is being applied to corporate events and conferences. Recently the Circular Fashion Summit hosted by Lablaco took place in a virtual 3D model of Paris's Grand Palais created by spacegrey in collaboration with Chatillon Architectes. The viewers entered via AltSpaceVR using Oculus headsets. Upcoming European VR/AR tradeshow Virtually has digitalised its physical conference arena to reflect everything you might expect from a physical space: exhibition halls, auditorium, networking lounge, all accessible from anywhere in the world with PC, Mac and Oculus Quest. To accomplish this, the show has partnered with Manzalab Group using its digital solution, Teemew Event.
