Toyota begins road trials of its electric iQ in 2011

Toyota will begin European trials of an electric version of its iQ city car next year. The car is due to go on sale in the US in 2012, but Toyota is looking at other potential markets for the vehicle, including Europe, Japan and China. The number of vehicles and test sites are yet to be decided, but similar programmes involving the plug-in hybrid Prius have involved only a handful of vehicles.
