Porsche to test flywheel hybrid race car at the Nuerburgring

Porsche has developed a hybrid version of its GT3 R race car, giving it an electric front axle. The car will compete in the Nuerburgring 24 Hours endurance race in May to gather data for subsequent use in the firm's road-going sportscars.rnThe car's configuration and components are unusual. The 353kW flat-six gasoline engine is still at the rear, so two electric motors, each developing 60kW, drive the front axle.
