Abrand image built over decades on excellent ofiroad ability and superior on-road refinement has been very good for Land Rover's Range Rover model. It pioneered the luxury all-wheel drive segment in the 1970s and has been the benchmark ever since. But, although the market is still a lucrative one, it's a much more complex one now. There's a lot of pressure from the competition and from fleet CO_2 targets - and many of the other OEMs are ahead of Land Rover with hybrid technology.
