Greater emphasis is being placed on tyre technology as OEMs seek to improve vehicles' fuel efficiency, especially as hybrids and electric vehicles become more widely available. But tyre design also affects ride and handling, and from the end of next year in Europe tyres will have to display a label that shows gradings for rolling resistance, road noise and wet grip. In tyre production an unvulcanised tyre is taken into press to be moulded and cured.
