Audi replaces mirrors with cameras

Audi's R8 e-tron electric sports car will feature an energy-efficient digital display instead of a simple rear-view mirror. Images from a rear-mounted camera are shown on an active matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED) display. The e-tron's rear screen does not allow the driver to see through it, so a conventional rear-view mirror would be useless.
