The compact car defines the European market, and the SUV does the same in North America. Intensive development efforts on both classes of vehicle will make significant improvements to OEMs' fleet average Co_2 and fuel economy figures, helping them to meet ever-more stringent targets in place on both sides of the Atlantic.
