The CSIRO is actively developing research facilities and technical expertise in the area of building airflows. These research capabilities enable computational and experimental analyses of building ventilation problems for improved thermal comfort, improved indoor air quality, improved ventilation efficiency, and reduced heating and cooling energy costs. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs have been developed to solve the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations for building air flow applications.
