Until now the ice hotel's season has been determined by the forces of nature, but heat exchangers are helping to extend the season. Situated on the banks of the Torne River in the village of Jukkasjarvi, 12 kilometres from Kiruna in Swedish Lapland, the Ice Hotel is quickly becoming one of Sweden's greatest tourist attractions and one of the world's most exotic hotels. As each year passes, the hotel grows larger with tourists coming to experience the exotic environment and see the northern lights.
