摘要

Modern indoor aquatic centres are potentially high energy consumers, particularly the main swimming pool enclosures where energy is consumed for both pool water heating and for conditioning of the indoor environment. In fact the two main energy streams are both closely linked and finely balanced such that the more energy one applies to the pool water the more one must then apply to the environmental conditioning to achieve an acceptable balance of conditions. That is to say acceptable to both the owner and patrons of the aquatic centre. If the water and space temperatures are too cold they will be unacceptable to patrons. On the other hand if pool water and space conditions are too hot the energy cost may not be acceptable to the owners. A conventional chiller set can exploit the thermodynamic benefits of vapour compression refrigeration and combine this with programmed consumption of off-peak electrical energy to tip the balance in the owner's favour while producing conditions which are highly acceptable to the patrons.
