Under pressure from the explosive growth in digital label printing - digital presses now account for some 12 per cent of all narrow web new press sales - flexography has moved to address the growing requirement to print short run jobs profitably and with minimal waste. We have seen flexography move in two directions. First, highly efficient presses designed for efficient short-to-medium runs of pressure-sensitive labels, often shaft driven and dispensing, or cutting the number of servo drives to keep down costs and reduce maintenance complexity.
