Griffin laminators sell to Opus

The Australian book printing world has been shaken up with Protectaprint, the major supplier of laminate and foiling to PMP's Griffin Press, sold to its main rival Opus. The sale comes as the longtime owners of the SA-based Protectaprint Richard and Steve Wilkinson looked to retire. They had offered the business to PMP, as they provided virtually all its embellishing, but PMP was not keen. Opus then bought the assets, which include what Protectaprint claim was Australia's biggest spend on laminating equipment, with two water based laminators, a pair of foilers, spot UV presses, and will ship all the equipment to its Maryborough book production plant.
