Modern Command Training: The New South Wales Police Force Approach

The New South Wales Police Force (NSWPF) has embarked on an ambitious program to professionalise the skills and abilities of its Incident Commanders. The traditional 'home-grown' commander has evolved into the fully matured and developed operational leader that NSWPF needs to maintain its professional capabilities for the future. Since 2008, new and existing Incident Commanders have been participating in the Command Level Training program (CLT) which is aimed at increasing resilience across the state. The CLT is part of the organisation's initiative to reform some of the existing practices that surrounded the identification, development and sustainability of Incident Commanders.
