Attendance for this year's Winery Engineering Association (WEA) Conference and Exhibition stood at around 600 people over the two days of 21-22 June. The 2006 WEA New Zealand Conference is being held at the Montana Brancott Winery, Blenheim on 17-18 August. The 2006 WEA travel award was not made as no application was put forward from members, however, Neil Scrimgeour, senior process scientist of Provisor, was allocated the S3000 award money for a research project seeking to evaluate the efficiency of bottling lines in New Zealand. Scrimgeour will visit key bottling practices and discuss bottling with wine industry contacts.
