摘要

This paper describes a simple experiment to measure the thermal conductivity and convective heat transfer coefficient of samples of mammal fur, specifically the red kangaroo and koala of the Australian bush. We discuss the ways in which such thermal properties are related to survival strategies of these animals in their harsh environment. We also report results of measurement of the thermal properties of another unique Australian animal, the deadly box jellyfish.
