Note from the Actina General Editor

This Part of the Journal has been put together under my auspices, as Acting General Editor. For all intents and purposes, however, it has been a collaborative effort, in which I have played a very minor role. The three articles in this Part were sourced and effectively edited by the long-term Editor of the Journal, David Brennan. Two of the articles - the article by Tyrone Berger on trade mark dilution and the article by Bob Vangenne on implications of ICANN's expansion of gTLDs - were the winner and runner up, respectively, in the 2011 inaugural AIPJ Essay Competition. The essay competition was conceived and run by David Brennan, who also convened the judging panel. As a member of the panel, I would like to express my gratitude to my fellow members, the Hon Justice Gummow AC and Ann Dufty, for their time, diligence and good grace in assessing the entries. The winner and runner up in the competition should be congratulated for the high quality of their entries, which the Journal is now pleased to publish.
