Release of the Guidelines for the Economic Assessment of Mining and Coal Seam Gas Proposals in NSW

The Integrated Mining Policy is a whole-of-government project that aims to: 1. improve the regulation and assessment of major mining projects; 2. strike a balance between the significant benefits mining can bring to the economy and the potential impacts on communities and the environment; 3. help manage the environmental and social impacts of mining; and 4. ensure the community has access to relevant and timely information about mining projects. In mid-2015, the Integrated Mining Policy was exhibited for public comment in two stages. A number of documents forming part of the Integrated Mining Policy have now been finalised, including the Indicative Secretary's Environmental Assessment Requirements, Mine Application Guidelines, Independent Audit Guidelines and Water Regulation Overview.
