Given that the future is impossible to predict, the sheer audacity of George Friedman's The Next 100 Years is breathtaking. Friedman is an American and the thesis of his book is that while the US is dominant now, as the 21~st century develops, the world will experience greater US power; in short, the US is destined to be 'socially imitated and politically condemned'.
