Hitachi and Toshiba Found Organization to Promote ABWR Exports to Asia

On December 24, Toshiba Corp. and Hitachi, Ltd., announced their agreement to establish the Asia ABWR Promotion Organization (APO), which will carry out joint PR and marketing efforts in promoting the exports of advanced boiling-water reactors (ABWRs) to other Asian countries. It officially started operations on New Year's Day. Chairman F. Sato of Toshiba, and Mr. K. Hamada, executive managing director of Hitachi, will serve as the venture's president and vice president, respectively.
