PARAMETERS OF THE GAS-TURBINE CYCLE FOR FAST REACTORS

There is still no general agreement about the desirability or possibility of using a gas working cycle (with a gas turbine ) instead of a steam-water cycle in modern fast reactors. On the one hand, this would make it possible to do away with an intermediate sodium loop, since then there is no danger of hydrogen entering the core during an accident. On the other hand, some estimates show that for the existing working temperature the efficiency is unfavorably low. Consequently, it is useful to make an accurate estimate of the efficiency in fast reactors on the basis of an ideal gas cycle, which can be easily done.
