摘要

Small radiators capable of generating pulses of fast neutrons with short duration 1-100 nsec are required for remote detection and identification of dangerous hidden objects, elemental analysis of substances by means of inelastically scattered neutron time-of-flight, testing detection apparatus for thermonuclear studies with inertial plasma confinement and studying fast processes by neutron tomography [1]. Calculations and experiments have shown that neutron fields with such a time structure can be generated using backward diodes with collective acceleration of deuterons in rectilinear pulsed electron beams [2-4].
