Taipei―Taipeibank Co., Taiwan's eighth-biggest listed lender, expects to earn NT$500 million to NTS800 million (US$14.3 million to US$22.9 million) in additional net profit this year from managing the government's new islandwide lottery, President Jesse Y. Ding said. Mr. Ding said the lottery, which started selling tickets Jan. 16, also will bring in about NT$4.3 billion in fee revenue for Taipeibank this year. Fees now make up a fraction of the company's revenue, meaning the new business will substantially diversify its income structure at a time when low interest rates and meager lending opportunities have made traditional banking less attractive. Mr. Ding said that both profit and revenue from the venture would definitely grow in the , years ahead.
